How to replace a two-Piece ostomy bag

Two-piece ostomy bags are becoming more and more widely used for people with ostomies because of their versatile functions. The patients only need to break the glue of the chassis to form the desired shape.

Material preparation:

1. Soft towel

3. Ostomy base plate, ostomy bag, ostomy clip, ostomy scissors, ostomy ruler

4. Ostomy belt (used with convex stoma chassis)

Replacement operation method:

First, you need to remove the old ostomy bag, and slowly remove it from top to bottom. You can use ostomy glue remover, and pay attention to the skin around the ostomy.

Step 1: Clean the stoma. Fold the paper towel in half and wrap it around the stoma to clean the feces. This will not contaminate the surrounding skin. Repeat on both sides. (Pay attention to changes in the color of the stoma mucosa. Some stomas may also have complications in the early stages, such as:)

Step 2: Use a warm towel to gently wipe the skin around the stoma.

Step 3: Spray or apply the skin protectant evenly on the skin around the stoma, wait for about 20 seconds, and the protectant will naturally form a protective film. If your skin is already damaged, you may feel a slight sting when applying it. It is recommended to use stoma skin care powder first, and then stoma skin protectant.

Step 4: When replacing the ostomy bag or chassis, there is no need to tear off the protective film, it will be peeled off together with the sticker, and then the ostomy bag on it

Step 5: Wrap the ostomy belt around your waist to reinforce the ostomy bag.

Time to change ostomy bag:

It is recommended to change it in the morning on an empty stomach.
