Treatment of pressure ulcers with traditional Chinese medicine combined with silver dressings

What is a pressure ulcer?

Pressure ulcers, also known as pressure ulcers or "pressure injuries," are called "decubitus ulcers" in traditional Chinese medicine. Pressure ulcers are a common complication of severe patients in clinical practice and are caused by persistent ischemia caused by prolonged compression of local tissues in the body. Moreover local tissue necrosis is caused by prolonged contraction of local tissue, which brings severe pain to patients and even threatens life.

The international economic burden of pressure ulcers

Each country has its problems with pressure ulcers. According to the survey, the prevalence rate of pressure ulcers in the national census in the United States in the past two years was 9.2%-15.5%, and 1.3-3 million people suffered from pressure ulcers, and the cost of treating pressure ulcers was as high as 11-17.2 billion US dollars per year. The incidence of pressure ulcers in the UK community was 7.7%; a survey in the Netherlands showed that the cost of treating pressure ulcers accounted for 1.21%-1.41% of all health care expenditures; a study of the incidence of pressure ulcers in Brazil showed that the first The morbidity rate was 11.4% for patients on day two and 10.3% for patients on day two. The high incidence of pressure ulcers, the difficulty of treatment, and the cost of therapy impose a significant economic burden on countries.

Symptoms of pressure ulcers

Stage II to III pressure ulcers have long been a complex problem in clinical nursing. Stage II pressure ulcer features: There are blisters on the pressure ulcer, and the treatment principle is to protect the wound surface and prevent wound surface infection. Treatment of blisters: For small blisters that are not ruptured, local friction should be minimized to allow them to be absorbed by themselves. Large blisters should be punctured with a syringe to extract the exudate from the blisters under sterile conditions and then covered with pure silver dressing.

Stage III pressure ulcers: characterized by full-thickness skin loss. Treatment principles should be thorough and conducive to healthy tissue repair and growth.

Treatment of pressure ulcers with traditional Chinese medicine combined with silver dressings

In China, Chinese herbal medicines have been widely used in clinical practice. The treatment of pressure ulcers has apparent effects such as sound curative effects, a short course of treatment, and simplicity. In recent years, new silver-containing dressings have developed rapidly. The silver ions in sauces can inhibit the proliferation of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microorganisms. They can reduce the inflammatory response of wound tissue, promoting wound healing and bringing about the prevention and treatment of wound infection—new ideas.

TCM treatment of stage II and III pressure ulcers is widely used and effective. TCM believes that long-term illness leads to loss of qi and blood, stagnation of qi and blood at the compression site, obstruction of blood vessels, and lack of nutrition for muscles, muscles, and bones. It is decaying into sores. Traditional Chinese medicine combined with silver-containing dressings can improve blood circulation and better sterilize, shorten the treatment period of patients, and effectively reduce their pain.

The mechanism of Chinese medicine for the treatment of stage II and III in the treatment of pressure ulcers: promoting blood circulation and dissipating blood stasis, clearing heat and detoxifying, dredging collaterals and promoting muscle growth, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, etc. Traditional Chinese medicines for the treatment of pressure ulcers are divided into two categories: ready-made drugs and formula medicines. External application of traditional Chinese medicine can use effective Chinese herbal medicine. External application of Angelica dahurica powder can effectively promote blood circulation, dry dampness, stop the belt, eliminate carbuncle and discharge pus. The functions of clearing away heat and detoxifying, cooling blood, and disinfecting, as well as silver activated carbon fabric dressings, can be reasonably selected according to the depth of the pressure ulcer, the presence or absence of secretions and tissue necrosis, the patient's economic bearing capacity, and the conditions and habits of various places.

Traditional Chinese medicine combined with silver activated carbon fabric dressing can effectively kill bacteria on the wound surface, control the infection of the wound surface, and help the growth of granulation tissue to accelerate the healing of pressure ulcers.
