Should blister stickers be put on blisters?

Many people who love running often have the experience that blisters tend to form on their feet when running, especially during long-distance running outdoors. The appearance of blisters will make the running process extremely hard, the attention has to be diverted, and the fun of running is swept away. And many people use something like a Band-Aid to cover the blister and continue to exercise, but it still falls off during strenuous exercise, and the sore area may worsen or even become infected, which only leads to further pain. For most blisters, blister strips are a good choice. This article will explain the benefits of blister stickers for everyone, let's take a look together.

What are blister stickers?

Blister stickers are made of hydrocolloid materials and provide the wound with a slightly acidic airtight space that is conducive to promoting wound healing. They can form a protective barrier on the skin to prevent dirt and bacteria from entering the wound and reduce the occurrence of infection.

When should blister strips be used?

When the skin collides with shoes and socks for a long time, it should be affixed. It can relieve local skin friction and avoid the appearance of blisters. If blisters have formed at this time, blisters are larger than 5 mm in diameter. After puncturing, use blister stickers to protect the wound, which can also reduce pain to a certain extent. Blisters with a diameter of less than 5 mm do not need to be punctured. They can be directly covered with blister stickers, which can form a skin protection barrier and reduce further friction of the skin at the site.

When should blister strips not be used?

In some cases, if the skin around the blister area is red or hot and shows signs of infection, it is best to seek medical advice instead of using blister strips.

Can I continue to be active while the blister heals?

If you can't stop your activity, it's ok, and the benefit of blister strips is that they prevent chafing so you can keep moving. Blister stickers have self-adhesive properties, and are highly viscous. They are not easy to fall off even when they are active, and their surface is very smooth, which can prevent friction and further protect the wound. All in all, if you're going hiking or wearing a new pair of shoes, it's always advisable to take precautions to prevent blisters on your feet. Unless your blisters are large, infected, or oozing, a blister patch will protect and heal your blisters while keeping you comfortable enough to keep moving.
