Adults - most burns at work

For adults, there is also a risk of burns and scalds in many occupations. For example, chefs work in a cooking environment with high oil temperature, firefighters rub shoulders and fight fires in fire rescues, and steel workers are accompanied by fires and hot steel every day, and the danger of being scalded is always present. Therefore, occupational scald is one of the common trauma diseases of the above-mentioned types of work. The attitude of "take it for granted" makes high-risk practitioners ignore the potential hazards of burns and scalds, and if they do not prevent and control them in time, it will lead to serious consequences. For some high-risk jobs, burns are more likely to occur. Just in case, you may wish to keep some emergency items around.

Children - more burns in summer vacation

Not only adults are at risk of burns, but children are even more at risk. According to statistics, children account for 30% of the patients with burns and scalds during the summer vacation. Moreover, the skin of children is delicate, and even if they are injured under the same conditions as adults, the degree of injury is much more serious. The scalds of children aged 0-5 account for about 70% of the burnt children. The main reasons are parents' negligence and poor awareness of prevention and safety. Among children with burns, 49% are disabled and 8% are permanently disabled. Clinical studies have found that many parents lack the common sense of life to prevent scalds in children or improper pre-treatment measures in the backyard of scalds, and such accidents can be avoided.

How to judge the degree of burn :

First degree burns: Which only damage the surface of the skin, with mild local swelling, no blisters, and obvious pain.

Second-degree burns: Moderate burns, which not only damage the epidermis and cause obvious pain but also damage the middle layer of the skin with blisters.

Third-degree burns: The most serious burns, the subcutaneous, fat, and muscles are damaged, gray or reddish-brown, and even blackened and zoomed. At this time, due to nerve damage, they may not feel pain.

Choose the right dressing:

Burns and scalds will not only suffer from the pain caused by the high-temperature burn itself. For patients with second-degree burns, the dressing change of the wound will also bring unbearable pain, which in many cases even exceeds the burn itself. The Longterm Medical hydrogel dressing is also the most widely used wound dressing recommended after burns. The hydrogel is made up of approximately 90% water, which provides sufficient moisture to accelerate wound healing time.

Longterm Medical Hydrogel Dressings :

① Hydrogel Dressing: Sheet dressings can usually be cut to fit the wound. The gel can overlap between the wound and the skin without causing any harm. Other wound dressings can also cause damage to the skin around the wound, so sheet hydrogel dressings are ideal, especially for those with sensitive skin.

Hydrogel Dressing Flakiness

②Hydrogel Tubular: This hydrogel is a free-flowing dressing designed to be able to enter the deeper parts of a wound or puncture, and the flexibility of the amorphous hydrogel makes it ideal for flowing into the corners of punctures and other deep wounds and gaps. Although it is the most flexible, it usually needs to be covered with an auxiliary dressing so that it stays on and helps the wound surface.

Treating Burns: Quick First Aid Is Important

In the event of burns, it is important to stop the thermal effects immediately to prevent further spread:

Rinse with clean water and remove hot objects→Take off the clothes soaked in hot liquid (never forcibly pull or take off the clothes, at this time, it will be easy to take off the skin together because the clothes will be scalded with the skin If they are connected together, they should be soaked in cold water to reduce the pain, then carefully cut the clothes with scissors, take off the clothes, or go to the hospital to find a professional doctor for treatment ). Then, a Longterm Medical hydrogel dressing is applied to the scalded area, but if it is severe, you should see your doctor. In cases of mild first-degree burns, it is usually sufficient to apply a hydrogel to the affected skin after the initial treatment to support healing.
