Stoma retraction case sharing.

Chelsea, a 53-year-old recently, had obvious pain in the skin around the stoma, and the stoma chassis could not be pasted due to the grayish-black skin around the stoma and the red spots on the skin around the stoma. After inspection, it was found that the white part around the stoma was a complication of uric acid crystals, the skin on the left side of the stoma was red and ulcerated, and the skin around the stoma was gray-black with some red spots. What is the reason for the above situation, and how to prevent it from happening? Come and see it with me below.

Stoma

What are the causes of urinary tract infections?

1. The urostomy is not cleaned in time or the water intake is insufficient, resulting in white crystals adhering to the stoma or the skin around the stoma.

2. Incorrect product selection, resulting in leakage. Repeated exposure of the skin to urine causes inflammation of the skin, which, over time, turns black when the skin heals.

3. The red spots around the stoma cause ulcers after repeated friction and cleaning

4. The skin on the left side is red and slightly ruptured, but the right side is normal; it is slightly inclined to the mucous membrane of the colostomy, and the secretions are inclined to this side or sleep more on this side when sleeping. Mostly urine erosion.

Stoma infection

How should it be cared for?

① Stop using accessories that contain alcohol. such as alcohol-containing protective film

②Remove the white uric acid crystals on the surface of the stoma, clean it and then rinse it with water, and then stick the ostomy bag.

③You can use Longterm Medical Skin protective power to spray on the skin around the stoma, apply it evenly, and remove the excess powder after 3-5 minutes of absorption. If there is residual powder on the broken skin, you can leave it directly on it. The skin care powder can absorb the ulcer, keep the skin dry, and help repair the broken skin.

④Longterm Medical skinprotective ring can be used to cover the ulcerated skin surface around the stoma (it can isolate the effect of the ulcerated skin on the adhesiveness of the chassis. It can help to stick the ostomy bag and prevent urine from directly contacting the chassis and skin)

⑤Choose Longterm Medical two-piece convex chassis reasonably cut the diameter of the chassis, and the diameter of the chassis can be 1~2mm larger than the actual diameter of the stoma; use the Longterm Medical Ostomy Belt to tighten and fix it, which can better avoid leakage of urine.

Attention Tips:

1. When pasting the ostomy bag, the chassis is pressed against the skin, and the skin around the stoma must not be exposed. Generally, after the secretion is collected, the surrounding red and ulcerated skin will recover in about half a month.

2. Do not use flat or non-adhesive ostomy bags. To avoid the skin around the stoma from being soaked again, it is best to choose a deep convex two-piece ostomy bag.

3. It is recommended to use Longterm Medical Silicone Tape, which is gentle on the skin and will not damage the skin when removed. Zinc oxide tape is not recommended. Because of this, the ostomy bag cannot be sticky after being applied, and the secretions will soak the skin and form a vicious circle.

Stoma infection

Keep exercising:

Regular physical activity provides health benefits and can reduce many treatment side effects. It can also be a great relaxation technique to reduce anxiety and reduce urinary symptoms.

If you have a catheter installed, you should avoid swimming to keep the catheter in good condition and reduce the risk of infection.

If you have had a urostomy, talk to your doctor or ostomy nurse about when and how to resume swimming. Existing healthcare devices allow bathing, are easily concealed and are resistant to the action of water.
