Why do wounds need to be covered and not left open?

In daily life, our skin will inevitably suffer some minor injuries. The wound healing process is a natural response of our body, but did you know that? There are two types of healing: wet healing and dry healing. Which of these two methods is better? That's what we're going to talk about today.

Previous misunderstandings about wound healing :

Many people think that "the wound is not breathable when bandaged and heals slowly", but this is wrong. The skin needs to be breathable, not because it needs to breathe, but because it needs flowing air to dry the sweat on the skin. So when we wear an airtight plastic raincoat, we will find small water droplets on the side of the raincoat that are close to the skin. What the skin needs is not ventilation, but flowing gas that can take away water molecules. It is for drainage. A functional dressing with a certain absorptive capacity will heal faster than the natural scab of the wound.

The following wounds do not need to be bandaged :

Relatively superficial abrasions and burns on the head, face, and perineum do not need to be bandaged. It is not that it is better to leave such wounds unbandaged. As mentioned before: it is recommended that all wounds be bandaged. For small wounds on the head, face, or perineum, the possibility of infection is very low, and there is no need to spend a lot of effort bandaging them in order to heal them a day or two earlier because these two parts are very difficult to bandage. Not only due to its complex structure and many functional organs, the skin in these two parts also easily secretes sweat. Whether it is a bandage or a band-aid, it is not easy to fix it.

Advantages of Moist Healing :

1. Promote cell regeneration: A moist environment is conducive to the growth of new granulation tissue, thus accelerating wound healing.

2. Reduce the chance of infection: A moist environment reduces the possibility of bacterial growth, thereby reducing the risk of infection.

3. Reduce pain: A moist environment helps relieve pain and makes the wound healing process more comfortable.

4. Simple operation: Hydrocolloid dressings and other products provide convenient conditions for wet healing. No additional care is required, just maintain a moist environment.

Which type of functional wound dressing is more suitable for daily small wounds?

Hydrocolloid dressing is a commonly used wound care product that can maintain a moist environment in the wound area and provide a good healing environment for the wound. It can provide the wound with a slightly acidic closed space that is conducive to wound healing, prevent the invasion of foreign microorganisms, and speed up wound healing. Moreover, hydrocolloid dressings help improve patient comfort.
