How can alginate dressings help in wound care?

Alginate dressings are commonly used dressings in wound care, which can absorb wound exudate and improve the wound environment, thereby promoting wound healing and reducing patient pain.
1. Absorb wound exudate
The main component of alginate dressing is calcium alginate, which is a natural cellulose extracted from seaweed. Glue keeps the wound moist and closed, which is conducive to the swimming and proliferation of epidermal cells and the regeneration and repair of microvascular tissue, and the wound healing speed is naturally accelerated.
2. Help the wound stop bleeding
For the bleeding symptoms of fresh wounds, after covering the alginate dressing, calcium ions can be released on the wound surface, which can promote the formation of prothrombin activator, thereby accelerating the blood coagulation process and stopping bleeding faster.
3. Isolate external germs
After the skin is ruptured, germs can easily invade the inside of the wound, and after covering with alginate dressing, it can effectively isolate external germs and prevent germs from invading the wound. Reduce the incidence of infection.
4. Will not stick to the wound
The alginate dressing has good biocompatibility, can be easily removed after absorbing water, does not adhere to the wound, and is painless when changing dressings.
5. Can be used for superficial wounds and sinus tracts
Superficial wounds can be covered directly. For small and deep sinus wounds, they can be trimmed and filled in the sinus, but they need to be repaired with other drugs. Wounds with a depth of more than 0.5cm are not very suitable, and can be combined with external application of compound plaster gauze to promote muscle repair.
