The potential of AI chatbots in dermatology recognized

Posted by Admin | 30 Jun

Recently, the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology published a study evaluating the risks and benefits of consumer-facing artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical dermatology. Among them, artificial intelligence chatbots, as a new form, have attracted widespread attention in research.

With the continuous advancement of artificial intelligence technology, more and more application scenarios are emerging in the field of dermatology. Taking image-based classifiers as an example, by using artificial intelligence, skin cancer can be detected efficiently, often outperforming traditional dermatologists.

As an emerging form, artificial intelligence chatbots are open to the public to conduct simulated dialogues with users. When a user asks a chatbot a question, it uses natural language understanding technology to determine what the user wants. Then, a large-scale text dataset is used to generate answers using a model trained by a neural network. In this process, the robot will choose the next vocabulary according to the probability distribution of words and has the ability to learn and improve through repeated interactions.

There are many models currently under development, and an open-source project in China - the 3.5 model, is one of the representatives of this type of chatbot. The project has shown good application potential in answering the dermatological questions of a wide range of users.

However, it also needs to be noted that although AI chatbots have demonstrated great advantages in clinical dermatology, their risks cannot be ignored. Chatbots still have the potential to produce misleading answers or fail to provide accurate diagnoses in individual cases. Therefore, in the process of promotion and use, scientific and reasonable assessment and guidance are required to avoid potential risks.

All in all, AI chatbots, as an emerging application form, show great application potential in clinical dermatology. With the continuous development of technology, we have reason to believe that under the guidance of science and rationality, this technology will provide more people with convenient and accurate dermatology consultation services.
